How much power does the alternator produce,
what is the efficiency of the antenna and
how much power is effectively radiated ?

I’ve been wondering this for a long time; those numbers also give some indications of what to expect from most amateur radio setups for 136 KHz / 2,200 meters (and sub-optimal ones on 475 KHz / 630 meters).

Thank you VERY much, Ola! Merry Christmas!

SAQ has no facility to measure the output power. The only instrument connected to output is a thermocouple that measures the current from the alterator to the antenna. However, we estimate that the power to the antenna is about 70 – 80 kW and the effectively radiated power from the antenna is about 8 kW.
