HAM RADIO STATION

All around the world there is today approximately 3 million radio amateur operators. You can meet some of them here at the world heritage sites amateur radio station SK6SAQ. They will gladly show you their hobby and let you try to make  ontact with other operators.

Amateur radio, as it is practiced today began in the early 20th century after Marconi’s successful experiments of sending wireless signals across the Atlantic Ocean. During World War I it was forbidden to practice the hobby in many countries, but after the war it brisked up. In an era without Internet, for many this became first meeting and only way to get contact with other cultures all around the world.

The amateur station is operated by volunteers and whenever the door is open you are welcome inside!
