Rainy skies and cold temperatures did not stop SAQ from airing on Alexanderson Day 2024. Close to 200 visitors at the radio station and over 700 viewers on the live YouTube broadcast were able to experience how the soon 100 year old Alexanderson alternator came alive and could deliver a stable and clear radio signal that was received from all around the globe.

Startup and transmission
The team from the Alexander association managed to start and tune the Alexanderson alternator to deliver a clear and stable signal with levels compared to the previous transmission on Christmas Eve 2023.

THIS IS GRIMETON RADIO STATION/SAQ IN A TRANSMISSION USING THE ALEXANDERSON 200KW ALTERNATOR FROM 1924 ON 17.2 KHZ. =
IN THE SUMMER OF 1924, THE CONSTRUCTION OF GRIMETON RADIO STATION WAS GETTING COMPLETED, WITH TWO ALEXANDERSON ALTERNATORS, EACH WITH THREE IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS, A ROTATING ALTERNATOR, A MAGNETIC AMPLIFIER AND A TUNED MULTIPLE ANTENNA. IN DECEMBER, THE SAME YEAR, IT WAS PUT INTO COMMERCIAL USE, WITH TRANSMISSIONS ACROSS THE ATLANTIC OCEAN, TO THE USA.
